چکیده

discussion transthoracic echocardiography disclosed massive pericardial effusion, respiratory variation in mitral and tricuspid inflow e velocity, increased diastolic flow reversal with expiration in the hepatic vein, septum deviation in inspiration toward the left ventricle (lv), preserved lv function, and inferior vena caval (ivc) dilation without any collapse in inspiration. chest computed tomography (ct) revealed a large amount of pericardial effusion and bilateral pleural effusion. introduction tuberculosis (tb) is a serious disease in developing countries. tuberculous pericarditis is a rare but life-threatening condition and may lead to cardiac tamponade and constrictive pericarditis. case presentation an 82-year-old man was referred for cardiac consultation. he was suffering from dyspnea, malaise, weight loss, night sweat, and fever for four months duration.

Subacute effusive-constrictive pericarditis.

Clinical and hemodynamic observations are reported in 13 patients who demonstrated a distinct pathophysiologic form of compressive pericardial disease characterized by effusion into a free pericardial space associated with constriction of the heart by the visceral pericardium. The pericardial disease was idiopathic (nine patients) or subsequent to radiotherapy (four patients), with a maximal du...

Effusive-constrictive pericarditis.

BACKGROUND Effusive-constrictive pericarditis is an uncommon pericardial syndrome characterized by concomitant tamponade, caused by tense pericardial effusion, and constriction, caused by the visceral pericardium. We conducted a prospective study of its clinical evolution and management. METHODS From 1986 through 2001, all patients with effusive-constrictive pericarditis were prospectively ev...

Tuberculous Constrictive Pericarditis

INTRODUCTION Constrictive pericarditis is characterized by constriction of the heart secondary to pericardial inflammation. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is useful imaging modality for addressing the challenges of confirming this diagnosis. It can be used to exclude other causes of right heart failure, such as pulmonary hypertension or myocardial infarction, determine whether ...

Hemodynamic Findings of Effusive-Constrictive Pericarditis.

A 64-year-old man with rheumatoid arthritis presented with progressive abdominal and leg swelling, anorexia, and dyspnea for several years. Physical examination was notable for a pericardial knock, pulsatile hepatomegaly, and lower extremity edema. The jugular vein was distended past the angle of the jaw and did not decrease with inspiration (Kussmaul’s sign). Transthoracic echocardiography dem...

Redefining Effusive-Constrictive Pericarditis with Echocardiography

BACKGROUND Effusive-constrictive pericarditis (ECP) is traditionally diagnosed by using the expensive and invasive technique of direct pressure measurements in the pericardial space and the right atrium. The aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic role of echocardiography in tuberculous ECP. METHODS Intrapericardial and right atrial pressures were measured pre- and post-pericardiocente...
